Hate No One   2 comments

Hate no one; for hatred is a plague-spot that spreads its virus and kills at last. If indulged, it masters us; brings suffering upon suffering to its possessor, through‐out time and beyond the grave. If you have been badly wronged, forgive and forget: God will recompense this wrong, and punish, more severely than you could, him who has striven to injure you. Never return evil for evil; and, above all, do not fancy that you have been wronged when you have not been.

Can We Really Love Our Enemies   Leave a comment

Jesus makes plain that he is calling on us to practice the kind of universal love that God expresses.

The world seems to be filled with good guys and bad guys. The good guys, of course, are those who agree with us; the bad guys are those who don’t. From the viewpoint of an us-versus-them mentality, those on our side are seen as friends and allies, and those on the other side as opponents, sometimes enemies.

And then there are those who are doing things that are harmful to us or to others—those who, in Christ Jesus’ words, “curse you, . . . hate you, and . . . despitefully use you, and persecute you” (Matthew 5:44).

So how should we deal with those who oppose us? Click here to keep reading.

True Wisdom Brings Peace   1 comment

Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

(The Bible KJV – James 3: 13-18)

Being a Cheerful Giver   2 comments

Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.

(The Bible – II Corintians 9: 7, 8)

Giving does not impoverish us in the service of our Maker, neither does withholding enrich us.

(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy p79: 31-32)

Happiness Found   Leave a comment

Happiness is spiritual, born of Truth and Love. It is unselfish; therefore it cannot exist alone, but requires all mankind to share it.

Love enriches the nature, enlarging, purifying, and elevating it.

The Brotherhood of Man   Leave a comment

Wednesday Testimony Meeting Readings.

This recording is of the readings on the topic: The Brotherhood of Man

For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened: But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:

(The Bible KJV – II Corinthians 8: 13, 14)

… the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Seeking Happiness   Leave a comment

The good in human affections must have ascendency over the evil and the spiritual over the animal, or happiness will never be won.
