Sunday School

The Christian Science Sunday School in Canberra is located with the church and bookshop/Reading Room at the corner of Macquarie and Bligh Streets in Barton.

It operates every Sunday from 10.00-11.00 am.  The Sunday church service is also held at this time.

We welcome children and young people of all faiths up to the age of 20.  Visitors are always welcome.

Children are taught in small discussion groups.   All those working in the Sunday School and crèche are required to hold a current Working with Vulnerable People card.  Most of our current teachers are trained school teachers.  Our church, which includes the Sunday School, complies fully with the ACT Government’s Reportable Conduct Scheme.

Lessons are based on the Ten Commandments and the teachings of Jesus.  Students are taught how to relate these invaluable life guides to everyday experience.

Most children attend in person but we do have a small number of students in remote areas who attend via Skype each Sunday.

Currently our Sunday School includes the following groups:

  • A  lower and middle primary group

  • An upper primary/junior high school group

  • A senior high school/college group

New classes are formed as needed and visitors and new enrolments are welcome at any time.
