God – Parent, Shepherd, Friend   Leave a comment

Wednesday Testimony Meeting Readings.

This recording is of the readings on the topic: God – Parent, Shepherd, Friend

God is Love (The Bible – I John 4: 8)

DIVINE LOVE ] is my shepherd; I shall not want.

[LOVE] maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
[LOVE] leadeth me beside the still waters.

[LOVE] restoreth my soul [spiritual sense]: [LOVE] leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for [LOVE] is with me; [LOVE’S] rod and [LOVE’S] staff they comfort me.

[LOVE] prepareth a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: [LOVE] anointeth my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house [the consciousness] of [LOVE] for ever.

(From the 23rd Psalm – Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy p578)

A Desire to Love   Leave a comment

Though I may speak with moving words,

Which can inspire the human heart,

But have not love to seal their worth,

They are but sham and empty art.

.

Though I may give my worldly goods

Without a thought of self or gain,

Unless they bear the fruits of love,

They are as clouds without their rain.

.

Though I may search the deepest books,

Companion with the wisest men,

God’s loving voice still calls to me,

It bids me turn and look again.

.

Now I would learn to know this Love

Through meek and patient ministry,

Until my life has grown anew

And Love is All-in-all to me.

(Hymn 588 from the Christian Science Hymnal – words by Fenella Bennetts inspired by I Corintians 13)

One Universal God   Leave a comment

God is universal; confined to no spot, defined by no dogma, appropriated by no sect. Not more to one than to all, is God demonstrable as divine Life, Truth, and Love; and His people are they that reflect Him — that reflect Love.

The Hungry Heart   1 comment

.

When a hungry heart petitions the divine Father-Mother God for bread, it is not given a stone, — but more grace, obedience, and love.

(Miscellaneous Writings 1883-1896 by Mary Baker Eddy p127)

Love That Doesn’t Judge   3 comments

Beloved let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar, for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?

(The Bible, NKJV, I John 4: 7, 8, 20)

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

(The Bible, NKJV, – Galatians 3: 28)

The Grace of God   Leave a comment

,

God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

(The Bible – II Corinthians 9: 8)

How Do We Love God?   Leave a comment

.

.

Simply asking that we may love God will never make us love Him; but the longing to be better and holier, expressed in daily watchfulness and in striving to assimilate more of the divine character, will mould and fashion us anew, until we awake in His likeness.

(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy p4)

Governed by Divine Law   Leave a comment

Wednesday Testimony Meeting readings

This recording is of the readings on the topic: Governed by Divine Law

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. (John 1: 17)

God never punishes man for doing right, for honest labor, or for deeds of kindness, though they expose him to fatigue, cold, heat, contagion. (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy p384)

Love with a Heart of Tenderness   Leave a comment

Love with a heart of tenderness

Your enemies and friends;

However hard this may appear,

This quality just mends.

For Love is God in action true,

A presence that is felt;

A healing and a saving power

That will all discord melt.

(Christian Science Hymnal 519)
