Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils:  freely ye have received, freely give. (The Bible – Matthew 10: 8)

The time for the reappearing of the divine healing is throughout all time: (Science and Health p55)

Every Wednesday at 6.00 pm a Testimony Meeting is held at the Christian Science Church in Canberra.  Each meeting begins with readings selected from the two books designated as the Pastor of Christian Science:  The Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.  A new topic for the readings is selected each week.

At the conclusion of the short readings the congregation is invited to share thoughts on this topic and relate how they have used the principles of Christian Science to solve life’s problems and bring physical healing.

If you are in Canberra on any Wednesday please join us.  Everyone is welcome.

At a time of great need in our family several years ago, I happened to pick up at the local Christian Science Reading Room a little pamphlet with the meaningful title “Triumph of Good.”  The pamphlet reprinted a number of articles and testimonies of healing from this denomination’s publications, including two testimonies originally published in this magazine in 1955.

Testimonies of healing have been published in this magazine and the denomination’s other religious periodicals for more than a century.  Most are modestly written.  The testifiers are ordinary people from a wide range of backgrounds and educational levels.  Their primary motive in writing has usually been simple gratitude—to give thanks to God.  As when a stone is tossed into a quiet lake, the effects of such genuine thanksgiving ripple outward, often bringing encouragement and spiritual inspiration at just the points when we need it most.  This was my experience that day at the Reading Room. Read more

In this article, God’s Realness in Our Lives and the Healing it Brings, Thomas Johnsen talks about how his sense of gratitude to God helped to bring about a significant healing for a family member.

Adaptation and Bouncing Forward   Leave a comment

shutterstock_145963115News can seem to be a nonstop narrative of tragedies and victims: an unceasing flow of children, women, and men routed by war, fleeing drought, epidemics, terrorists, repression. These victims need urgent help—first aid, food, shelter, recovery assistance, developmental know-how.

But while there will always be new tragedies and new victims, most of today’s victims will recover, rebuild, and get on with life. Read more
