Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, (The Bible – II Chronicles 20: 15, 17).

Every Wednesday at 6.00 pm a Testimony Meeting is held at the Christian Science Church in Canberra.  Each meeting begins with readings selected from the two books designated as the Pastor of Christian Science: The Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.  A new topic for the readings is selected each week.

At the conclusion of the short readings the congregation is invited to share thoughts on this topic and relate how they have used the principles of Christian Science to solve life’s problems and bring physical healing.

If you are in Canberra on any Wednesday please join us. Everyone is welcome.

This recording represents the readings on the topic:  Fear Not.

  1. Much is made in the media of ‘fear’. Financial fear; fear of terrorism/warfare; fear of not having enough (welfare); xenophobia and the list goes on. What is there really to be fearful of? Christian Science goes beyond the ‘positive thoughts’ message and personal ‘good thoughts bring good deeds’ and requires a change of thought and the premise upon which thoughts are derived. One’s physical ‘mind’ is not the derivation of the positive thoughts; a ‘self help’ book is not the foundation for foregoing fearful thoughts. The fear here to be overcome is the fear of having to change the very premise of one’s existence. Is it possible to accept a world of harmony when inundated hourly by media gloom? Ultimately the choice is one’s own; as has been said/written elsewhere ‘why not choose good?’ rather than inflict yourself with misery. The reference to the Bible and II Chronicles above appear to indicate you have the facility to leave it to God, so why not do so?
